Vacation Planning Questions I Get All the Time

Fees, timing, how this whole thing works. If your question isn't here, send it my way and I'll get back to you.

What happens after I reach out?

First we'll have a quick chat about what you're dreaming up, who's going, and what your budget looks like. Then I put together a custom proposal, which takes about a week. Once you love it, I handle all the booking, confirmations, and details so you can just get excited about packing.

Will my trip actually be customized to what I want?

Of course! Every trip is different; what works for your girls trip might not work for your family vacation, and while one family may love thrill rides and adventures another may want a week sitting on a beach. I build every itinerary around what you actually enjoy, not a cookie cutter template.

What if I don't know where I want to go?

That's actually my favorite kind of call! I'll ask you a few questions about what you're looking for, like beach or city, adventure or relaxation, budget range, and who's coming along. From there I'll put together a few options and you pick what feels right.

How early should I start planning my vacation?

The sooner the better! For cruises I recommend 6 to 12 months out, Disney trips at least 6 months, and all-inclusive resorts 3 to 6 months. Even if your dates are flexible, starting early means better cabin selections, better room categories and better prices across the board.

How much does a travel agent cost?

I charge a Booking/Planning fee that depends on the trip, and I'm always upfront about it before we start. My fees start at $100 and go up depending on the trip type and party size, and I'll never surprise you with a number. Consultations are always free, so the easiest way to find out is to tell me what you're thinking and I'll give you a straight answer.

Are travel agents free?

Some are; agents who work purely on supplier commission don't bill you directly. I work differently: I charge a flat planning fee, quoted upfront and starting at $100, so you always know what you're paying for my time. The cruise or resort rate itself is the same you'd get booking direct.

Why use a travel agent, and is it worth it?

Honestly, for the time it saves and the headaches it skips, yes. I handle the research and the booking, and I actually know how each cruise line and resort operates instead of guessing off reviews. And when something goes sideways mid-trip, you get a real person on your side, not a call center.

What if I need to change my trip after booking?

Post-booking, you get up to 5 itinerary changes at no extra charge. After that there will be a small revision fee. However, any charges from airlines, hotels, cruise lines, etc. are separate and JBone Travel has no control over their costs.

What if something goes wrong during my trip?

Reach out to me and I'll help sort it out. I'm available Monday through Friday until 8pm, however, if you're mid-trip and something comes up I make exceptions for travelers on the road. That's one of the big perks of booking through a real person instead of a website.

How quickly will I hear back from you?

You'll hear back within 24 business hours. If I'm traveling, you'll get an auto-reply with my return date so you're never left wondering.

Can you help with group trips?

Yes! Whether it's a family reunion, a destination wedding group, or a friends getaway, I coordinate everyone's preferences and handle the logistics so no one person gets stuck being the planner. Group bookings also often unlock better rates and perks like onboard credits or room upgrades.

Do you work with deaf or hard-of-hearing travelers?

Absolutely! I'm a nationally certified and licensed ASL Interpreter, so I can work with you in English and ASL from our first conversation through the entire planning process.

Is a travel advisor right for everyone?

Honestly, no. If you love the research process, you're booking a simple round trip flight, or you're looking for the absolute cheapest option with no service attached, you might be happier booking it yourself. That said, maybe you've gotten through the research and need someone to put the finishing touches on it, or if you want someone to handle the details and be there when things go sideways, that's what I do and it's what I'm here for.
